Sako finnbear 7mm mag for sale
One must ask what type of hunting they primarily plan to be doing. Each have their pros/cons, but all will take essentially the same type of game. 270/.280/7mag/30-06 and similar are all in the same class. If you dont, just sell it and get something else. Get the 7mag, hunt with it and see if you like it. Not that 2 different rifles is a bad thing. If the two of you both carry the same caliber of rifle you only need to carry one type/caliber of ammo. I wouldnt worry(besides whats behind for safety sake) about the projectile passing completely through the animal you shoot, because it will happen with almost any rifle powerful enough to kill the animal. Actually because of its velocity, a poorly placed shot can ruin a lot of meat. 7mag will tear through most any small and medium game, hell even some big game. Ammo prices are reasonable and ammo selection is huge and just about any ma and pa sporting goods place will have it. Everyone at the range will hate you! Personally, if I were to only have one rifle I would choose. Down side is that the work was kinda spendy, and now the rifle is SUPER loud! Like, ear plugs AND muffs loud. Awesome rifle and awesome caliber! Recoil was almost unbearable even for him! He had the rifle fitted with a KDF recoil reducer/muzzle brake. Ammo is much more expensive with a smaller selection. I would suggest looking for a rifle that you wouldn't mind rucking around all day and again invest in a good scope and test out various grains of ammunition.ħmag has way more/sharper recoil than 30-06. If you're further up north and can get a sight on some elk or something, 30.06 will still do the trick very well. Personally 165 grain 30.06 is about perfect for buck or black bear. If you try out a few different grains on your 30.06 you'll find which is best suited for game here. bullets are sometimes much more important than the rifle. What a lot of people don't understand is that 1.bigger is not always better and 2. I would say get yourself a nice 30.06 rifle, spend money on a great scope (mine had a leupold 3-9x40) and practice shooting different grains. I don't have any experience with 7mm, but I do know if wouldn't be necessary. 30.06 rounds will go through a buck without too much hassle.
308īelieve me, the 30.06 is more than enough for anything up here unless you happen to find a few elephants running around. I'm from New York and recently sold my Howa 1500 in 30.06 and I'm getting a Remington 700 in.
